Our latest product, Nutrolin® OMEGA SENSITIVE®, is a microalgae oil for dogs and cats. It offers marine omega fatty acids to support your pet’s daily well-being. This microalgae oil contains as much omega-3 EPA and DHA as high-quality fish oil—about four times more than salmon oil.

Why did we choose microalgae oil for Nutrolin® OMEGA SENSITIVE®?

Nutrolin® OMEGA SENSITIVE® is a new innovation—a signal from the future.

Climate change is reducing fish populations in the region where the fish oils for Nutrolin® products are traditionally sourced. As the Pacific Ocean warms, the marine food web weakens. To protect fish stocks, organizations that monitor sustainable fishing have had to limit catches in the area.

This is the right course of action, but it may also drive up the cost of fish oil.

We decided to develop a product that has minimal environmental impact and whose production isn’t threatened by changing weather patterns.

When is another Nutrolin® product a better choice?

Nutrolin® OMEGA SENSITIVE® contains the same omega-3 EPA and DHA fatty acids as our fish oil–based Nutrolin® products. However, it does not include the full Nutrolin® nutrient concept—except for natural vitamin E.

If your pet is a senior, we recommend Nutrolin® SENIOR for dogs and Nutrolin® CAT SENIOR for cats to ensure more comprehensive support.

If your dog or cat suffers from osteoarthritis or needs extra joint support, the best choice is Nutrolin® HIP & JOINT.

Nutrolin® SKIN & COAT supports healthy skin and a shiny coat

Please note that neither fish oil nor microalgae oil helps with skin health. While it’s true that omega-3 fatty acids come from both plants and marine sources, they are different in function.

Marine omega-3s like EPA and DHA support joint, heart, and brain health.

Plant-based omega-3s, on the other hand, work together with omega-6 fatty acids to maintain skin health.
